Besides designing, he’s a loving father who enjoys walking with his wife and kids through Central Park.

Meet Shirin Askari. She’s a strong, energetic and independent woman who would be a pediatrician if she wasn’t designing. Her favorite supermodel muse? None other than the lovely Heidi Klum. Watch for throwback themes in this designer’s pieces - her favorite style icon is Katherine Hepburn, and she pulls inspiration from the ’30s, ’40s and ’50s. While she loves ’80s and ’90s rock, she’s not a fan of Crocs or midriffs.

Meet Nicolas Putvinski. He thinks feather work is a complete lost art. His fashion must? Denim. And his partner in crime? His cute little dog, Chardonnay. While Nicolas distinguishes fabric manipulation as his strength, he admits that men’s tailoring is his weakness. The piece he’s most proud of designing? The Victoria’s Secret wings. Will angels be watching over Nicolas and lead him into the finals?

Meet Johnny Sakalis. He’s always loved fashion and has known that it is what he’s supposed to do. The piece of which he’s most proud? Johnny once designed a wedding dress that made the bride cry. He claims that it was the best feeling “being a part of that emotional power.” His favorite past Project Runway designer? Christian Siriano.

While Johnny toots his strong creative flow and great sense of color, he says he tends to procrastinate and wishes his patterning was stronger. Will this FIDM grad meet all the deadlines and make it into the finals?

Meet Mitchell Hall. He realized that he had designer potential when he would sketch Disney princess gowns as a child. His supermodel muse? Naomi Campbell. If he had his choice of designing for any of today’s hottest celebrities, Mitchell says that he would choose the Olsen twins. Oh yeah, and he loves working with materials suited for draping. Sound familiar?

Meet Qristyl Frazier. She developed her passion for fashion when she learned to sew at age 15. She’s most proud of her choice to step out of the box and design for plus-size women. While she describes herself as self-employed, she’s got quite a resume under her belt having designed for big names like Queen Latifah, Angie Stone and Wendy Williams. Her greatest influences? Technical perfectionists like Balenciaga. Will this plus-size designer have the chops to make it to the finals?
